FEDERAL SUBSCRIBER LINE CHG - Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandated charge to help recover costs incurred for constructing and maintaining local telephone networks used for interstate purposes. Assessed by all telephone companies nationally.
STATE SUBSCRIBER LINE CHG - Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) mandated charge to help recover costs incurred for constructing and maintaining local telephone networks used for intrastate purposes. Assessed by all telephone companies in Indiana.
UNIVERSAL SERVICE FEE/FCC ASSESSMENT - FCC established the Universal Service Fund program to help keep telephone service rates affordable for all customers in the United States...especially in high cost areas. This charge is assessed to all customers nationally, and is calculated by multiplying the FCC’s universal service contribution factor times the customer’s interstate service charges.
If Your First Bill Is Higher Than Expected
Each bill contains REGULAR charges for the coming month's regular services. If a new service has been recently added to your account, the charges for the days of service that have occurred since the previous bill and the bill for the coming month will be pro-rated for the correct number of days and added to the bill. This will be in addition to the regular charges for the coming month. When displayed on the bill, each service is billed showing a date range for the charge. Looking at the date range for the charges will help the customer better understand which charges are the regular monthly charges that will be the normal cost in the future and which charges are the pro-rated charges that naturally occur when new services are added in the middle of a billing cycle.
Additional Internet Fees That May Result In A Higher Bill
- Disk Usage over XXMB - Each website is allowed a certain amount of disk space on the webserver per the contract for the web package. If a website contains more files than will fit in the disc space allowed, a fee of $1 per each MB over the allowed amount is charged.
- Addl Data Transfer - Each website is allowed a certain amount of data tranfer each month per the contract for the web package. Each time a user views (hits) a web page, the content for that page is downloaded across the internet (transfer) to the viewer's computer. Additional Data Transfer charges can occur when a website has an unusually large number of people visiting the website and this is normally a good thing. HOWEVER, if a website is billed for Additional Data Transfer and there has NOT been a large number of visits (hits) to the webiste, this charge is normally caused by imporperly formated images or video/sound files stored on the website.
